A big hello and welcome to all
my new students and parents for the 2020/2021 school year!!! I am the homeroom
teacher for group 42 (room 207) as well as the Math and English Language Arts
instructor for groups 41 & 42.
It is wonderful to be back in the building after the abrupt
end to last school year. Although there are many changes in our every day and
school life, we are going to make the best of it. You can see and hear some of
the changes on the virtual tour posted on Hillcrest Academy’s Facebook page or
Class Dojo, if you haven't already done so.
During the school year, I will
be posting homework and announcements on this blog. Each entry will be labeled
with the appropriate group number, 42 or 41. I will update it during the week
if necessary or send a message through Class Dojo. If you need to send a
message, please do so by Class Dojo. Agendas will not be checked due to Covid
restrictions.
During English and French week, please ensure to have a refillable water bottle every day since there are no water fountains and a mask is strongly recommended. There will be no class Kleenex box this year, so please make sure your child always has a personal supply in their school bag. School bags will remain in class all day.
Mme Gallant and I will continue working on The Paper Friendly Classroom. We each have a class set of Google Chromebooks we will be using regularly in class (each student will be assigned a Chromebook; no sharing). Some activities will be assigned through Google Classroom; an educational free web based platform and learning network that we will set up at school. Students can access their work from anywhere using the Google Classroom app or signing in on a computer. I encourage you to use the link found on this blog page to learn more about it. I will be getting the students started on it this week.
We will be using Google Classroom if we need to
work from home again, in both English and French classes.
Groups 41 & 42:
Library: Monday
Phys. Ed. will be
on Tuesday and Friday (students must come to school in their Phys.Ed uniform on these days)
(A pair of running shoes used solely for the gym are
necessary)
Music: Wednesday
Switch Periods on Tuesday/Friday - I will be working on Math during the French week: one period on Tuesday and one period on Friday.
Please send in labels for the Math books (2) and Language Power. The Numbers
Reference Book may be kept at home for studying.
Please send in a set of ear buds (mandatory) for the Chromebook (and a small
mouse, with a wire, if they would like to use one).
Notes:
· Scholastic will be my responsibility for both
groups. I will send the envelope home for both French and English. Remember
Scholastic only accepts online payment this year. No CASH please.
