Gr.41 Sept.30-Oct.4

Group 41
Thursday update: I am sending home the first "50 equations in 5 minutes" x-table test tonight. Please use this as a guide to determine how much studying should be done. A completed test should be attainable in Grade 4. Students should have the facts memorized. For those who are struggling, start off with the 2,3,4 x-tables. When success has been achieved, move on to 5,6,7 and so on. 5-10 minutes a night is all it takes! The next test will be Thursday October 17. As of the end of October, they will count for a percentage of the Math Reasoning mark. Practice orally, use online computer games (links on Blog), flash cards or iPad apps.

Finally a full week with Group 41 J Scholastic due Wednesday October 9.
Terry Fox Run is Friday morning! Please be sure you have sent in the Permission Slips. The donations are due Friday.
Please send in a set of ear phones, we need them for class activities with the iPads. Also remember the disinfecting wipes.

I am assigning an Oral Presentation this week. The information can be found in The Field Day from the Black Lagoon activity book. I am asking the students to create their own infomercial. It will be due Thursday October 10. Last year some students recorded their performance at home and sent it in on a Memory Stick along with the props. I am willing to give that option again as long as the video is compatible with Windows Media Player or (as one student did last year) the video is uploaded to a private YouTube account. Everyone is welcome to present live in front of the class though. Good luck and have fun!
